The Torah (a Hebrew word that is translated as “law” into most English Bibles, but more correctly means “Teachings, Instruction, Precepts” [Strong’s H8451/TWOT 910d]) preexisted Moses and even preexisted the creation of this earth and that it is spiritual in nature and therefore exists outside of all the physical creation as well as time itself.
Messianic and Jewish Scholars believe that the Word of YHWH Elohim, is central (everything) and is the very character and nature of YHWH himself and is the Pathway of Truth, Righteousness And Light which, if followed (obeyed) will lead humans to an eternal (never-ending) and spiritual relationship with YHWH Elohim (their Heavenly Father).
Sin is defined as being disobedient to YHWH, whether He delivered His command in person (as He did with Cain), verbally through His prophets (as He did with Saul), or His written word as delivered on Mt. Sinai. YHWH also made it clear that we sin when we do not keep the “Spirit” of the Torah/Law (Nomos).
