Introduction

The Parsha teaches us how the priests performed the sacrifices and describes the ordination of Aaron and his sons. In the first reading (Lev 6:8-18 in KJV), the L-RD told Moses to command Aaron and the priests about the rituals of the sacrifices ( קָרְבָּנוֹת†, karbanot)

The burnt offering ( עֹלָה†, olah). The Burnt offering was performed to atone for the sins of the people against the L-RD and was a dedication offering of one’s life before the L-RD continually.

The Meal (grain) offering ( מִנְחָה†, minchah). The purpose of the meal offering was an offering of gifts and speaks of a life that is dedicated to generosity and giving.

The sin offering ( חַטָּאת†, chatat). The sin offering expiated (meaning, paid the debts in full) the worshippers unintentional weaknesses and failures before the L-RD.

The Trespass (guilt) offering ( אָשָׁם†, asham). The trespass offering is similar to the sin offering but the main difference is that the trespass offering is an offering of money for sins of ignorance connected with fraud.

The peace offering ( ,שְׁלָמִים shelamim). The peace offering was a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving was most of the time a voluntary act.
This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings; Which the LORD commanded Moses in mount Sinai, in the day that he commanded the children of Israel to offer their oblations unto the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai.

Introduction

The Parsha starts with the accounting of the contributions and the materials for the Tabernacle, which would be used to complete Adonai's sanctuary.

In this Torah reading, G-d chose to place His glory in the finite space of the Mishkan. His presence was unmistakable and of great substance, It was heavy and inspired reverence. The presence of the L-RD was so weighty, in fact, that Moses himself was unable to enter.
But will G-d dwell indeed on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!

Introduction

Tongues of fire is known phrase during the first century. According to the Qumranic documents 1Q29, 4Q376 and 4Q408 the “tongue of fire” is connected with Urim and Thummim in discovering the will of G-D and the high priest would rely upon it (Num 27:21; 1 Sam 28:6).

Tongues of fire (in Qumranic writings) and even the traditions as recorded by Josephus (Ant 3.214-215) indicated that a miracle happens and the appropriate stone (either Urim orThummim) would shine forth as a brilliant light - known to them as “tongue of fire." 4Q376 Frag 1 Col 1, Frag 2–4 (w/ 4Q408 Frag 2) and 4Q376 Frags 5-7: shows that the Urim was used to test whether a prophet was true or false. The show on the “tongues of fire” in each head of the apostles and the disciples with them was an affirmation a sign to everyone that these were proven to be “true prophets.”
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
