Vayechi (וַיְחִי is the Hebrew for "and he lived.” It is the first word of the Parsha. It is the twelfth weekly Torah portion in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading and the last in the Book of B’reishit also known as Genesis. It constitutes Genesis 47:28–50:26. It is the shortest weekly Torah portion in the Book of Genesis but not the shortest in the Torah.
